HUNNIC TRIBES, Alchon Huns. Uncertain king, circa 6th century. Drachm (Silver, 26 mm, 3.88 g). 'JAVA MAHAMA' ('the victorious Mahama) in Brahmi Bust of Mehama with elongated skull to right, wearing diadem withcrescent at the front, earrings, pearl necklace and at the side, two horizontally-pleated ribbons; in field to right, large Alchon tamgha. Rev. Traces of a fire altar. Göbl -. Vondrovec, Type 317. Very rare. An attractive example with a bold portrait. About extremely fine.
